The Jets activated CB Robert Nelson from the practice squad and released RB Travaris Cadet. The club also signed LB Jeremy Cash and RB Akeem Judd to the practice squad and released S Harold Jones-Quartey from the P-squad.
Nelson, a University of Louisiana-Monroe product, appeared in 11 games last season for the Texans and recorded 20 tackles, two pass defenses and an interception. Originally an undrafted free agent in 2014, the 5'9", 175-pounder signed with the Browns and played in seven games his rookie season before he joined the Cardinals in 2015.
The Jets added Cadet on Sep. 27, three days after RB Matt Forte suffered turf toe. The 6'1", 210-pounder spent most of his career with the Saints and in four games with the Green & White, he totaled 35 rushing yards and 62 receiving yards.
The ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, Cash signed with the Panthers after going undrafted in 2016 and appeared in eight games last season. The 6'0", 230-pounder started his college career at Ohio State but only played one year there before transferring to Duke. In 39 games for the Blue Devils, Cash registered 332 tackles, 8.5 sacks, six interceptions, 14 pass defenses and nine forced fumbles.
Judd signed with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent and spent the preseason with the Titans before hurting his thumb. The 5'10", 225-pounder played two years at Ole Miss after transferring from Georgia Military College. Judd started all 24 games for the Rebels and rushed for 1,251 yards and nine touchdowns with an average of 5.2 yards a clip.
Jones-Quartey signed to the practice squad last week after spending the last two years with the Bears. For his career, the Findlay product has recorded 103 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
