The Jets have signed OLB Frank Beltre from the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL to a reserve/future deal.
Beltre, born in the Dominican Republic, moved to Randolph, N.J. at age 11 and started playing football in high school. The Towson product started three years for the Tigers, racking up 232 tackles, 38 TFL and 11 sacks, receiving first-team all-Colonial Athletic Association honors in his final two seasons. The 6'2", 250-pound Beltre appeared in 45 games, 40 of which he started.
After spending time with the Chargers and Raiders in 2013-2014, Beltre headed north and signed with the Stampeders, where he was teammates with Jets OLB Freddie Bishop for two years (2014-2015). In three seasons, Beltre appeared in 26 games, collecting 27 total tackles and three sacks. He was also a contributor on special teams, registering nine tackles.
