The Jets have signed tight end Brandon Barnes and have released wide receiver Marquess Wilson.
Barnes (6'4", 253) was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama State by Detroit after the April draft. He was waived by the Lions on Aug. 9.
For his college career in the Southwest Athletic Conference, Barnes played 38 games and had 29 receptions for 436 yards and six touchdowns. He wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, but he has size and athleticism and did attract league scouts to his pro day.
Wilson was Chicago's seventh-round pick in 2013 and had 56 receptions for 777 yards and three touchdowns in his four seasons with the Bears.
He became an unrestricted free agent in March and signed with the Jets in June. He had three catches for 20 yards and played in 15 offensive plays in the preseason opener against Tennessee, but didn't play against the Lions.
