The Buzz:The Ravens have had an up-and-down start to their season. After opening 3-0, Baltimore has dropped three straight, their latest loss coming against the Giants at MetLife Stadium. Former Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was was promoted to OC after Week 5 when Marc Trestman was relieved of his duties. Head coach John Harbaugh has been the leader of the Ravens since 2008 and has compiled an 80-51 record including one Super Bowl win in 2012.
Offense
The Staples: QB Joe Flacco has manned the offense since 2008, throwing for 29,911 yards, 167 TDs and 106 INT while completing 61.0% of his passes. This season his numbers are on par as he's completed 62.0% of his passes and thrown for 1,589 yards, 5 TDs and 4 INT. Flacco is also a rushing threat in the red zone — he's rushed for two touchdowns this year, one shy of his total from last season, but only averages 1.8 yards per rush.
Flacco's go-to target is TE Dennis Pitta, who leads the team with 34 receptions and is thirdwith 295 receiving yards while averaging 8.7 yards per catch. The BYU product is still looking to score his first touchdown since 2013. The seventh-year veteran has dealt with a number of injuries, missing the entirety of the 2015 season and only playing in a combined seven games in 2013-2014.
Shakeup In The Backfield: RB Terrance West is the feature back in Baltimore after the release of Justin Forsett. The third-year player has started the past three games, rushing for 295 yards and three TDs. He's also a receiving option out of the backfield with four catches for 36 yards vs. the Giants.
Defense
The Anchors: The Ravens enter week 7 with the No. 3 ranked defense. Led by Rush OLB Terrell Suggs and DT Timmy Jernigan, the defense is ranked No. 2 in the league against the run. The six-time Pro Bowler Suggs leads the team with five sacks and is tied for the team lead with Jernigan in QB hits and TFL with seven and six, respectively. However, Suggs reportedly sustained a torn biceps against the Giants and and his status for the Jets is unknown. Jernigan, a third-year player out of FSU, has amassed three sacks and two PDs this season as well.
Jack of All Trades: ILB C.J. Mosley does it all for the Ravens. The Alabama product has racked up 21 tackles, two TFL, one QB hit, 3 INTs and 4 PDs. He missed the first game of his three-year career last week game due to a hamstring injury he sustained while trying to score on an interception return. For his career he's totaled 279 tackles, 19 PDs and seven sacks.
Notable: Justin Tucker is one of the league's premier kickers, making all 15 of his FG attempts, including three from over 50 yards.
