The Jets announced the signing of Luke Marquardt on Wednesday.
Marquardt originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers in May of 2014 and spent his rookie season on the team's non-football injury list. An Azusa Pacific product, Marquardt played in 30 college games while making 25 starts.
After playing basketball at Skyline (WA) HS, Marquardt had hoped to continue with hoops at Azusa Pacific. But the football coaches saw a project and Marquardt eventually transitioned over to the offensive line after starting as a tight end. He was named to the 2013 Senior Bowl Watch List prior to the start of the 2012 season, but he missed that season with a foot injury.
