January 23, Fame-ous Weeb
Weeb Ewbank was selected to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

February 1, Joe Hangs 'Em Up
Joe Namath announced his retirement from football.

February 27, Green Changes
For the first time since 1963, the Jets changed their uniform design. The team also adopted a new logo and changed the helmet to green.

December 31, Michaels Honored
Walt Michaels, who kept the youngest team in the NFL in playoff contention for 15 games, was named AFC Coach of the Year by UPI and by the Pro Football Writers of America.
