February 6, Coslet's The Coach
GM Dick Steinberg concluded his search by naming Cincinnati offensive coordinator Bruce Coslet as the eighth full-time head coach in club history.

September 9, Uniform Change
For the fourth time in franchise history and third time in Jets annals, the team changed uniform designs. The Jets added black to accent their green and white colors and switched to green pants as part of their road uniforms.

September 16, Lidlifter
The Jets registered their first win of the Steinberg-Coslet era with a 24-21 win over Cleveland in their home opener.

November 4, Record Return
Rookie WR-KR Terance Mathis tied an NFL record, broken in 1994, when he returned a punt 98 yards for a touchdown in the 24-9 Meadowlands victory over Dallas.
