The Jets are listing 13 players who will not be dressing for tonight's preseason opener at MetLife Stadium against the Jaguars, including DE Muhammad Wilkerson and RB Khiry Robinson, who both came off the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list this week and participated in positional drills.
Four running backs, headed by Matt Forte, as expected, will miss the opener. Bilal Powell will get the start at tailback for Forté, who has been working through a sore hamstring.
Also, nose Steve McLendon is listed as out, with Jarvis Jenkins getting the start there.
The Jets' 13 scratches:
■ WR Kyle Williams
■ WR Devin Smith (Active/PUP)
■ RB Matt Forté
■ CB Dexter McDougle
■ RB Bernard Pierce
■ RB Khiry Robinson
■ RB Matthew Tucker
■ S Ronald Martin
■ LB Trevor Reilly
■ T Breno Giacomini (Active/PUP)
■ TE Wes Saxton
■ DE Muhammad Wilkerson
■ DL Steve McLendon
Among the new Jets starters will be veteran LT Ryan Clady, acquired in trade with Denver in March after D'Brickashaw Ferguson announced his retirement. Ferguson was the Jets' LT starter in the previous 10 preseason openers, not to mention every regular-season and postseason game for the previous decade.
But some things won't be changing. Nick Mangold, who arrived with Brick in the first round of the 2006 draft, is set to make his seventh start in the first preseason game since '06, while on defense David Harris is ready to make his eighth consecutive start in the preseason opener.
The Jets are wearing white jerseys and white pants for tonight's game, only the fourth time in 21 games under head coach Todd Bowles in which they've worn white/white. The others: Last year's preseason opener at Detroit (loss) and preseason Game 3 at the Giants (win) and last regular season's Game 3 vs. the Eagles (loss).
Tonight's referee is Brad Allen.
