Ben Kotwica, who took the Jets' special teams coordinator title from the retiring Mike Westhoff last season, is moving on to accept the Washington Redskins' title of special teams coordinator. The Redskins have made the announcement this afternoon.

Kotwica came to the Jets in 2007 and assisted Westhoff in coaching the Jets' specialists his first six years with the Green & White. Before entering coaching, he played linebacker for former Jets defensive coach Bob Sutton's Army teams.

He was a decorated officer who spent seven years in the Army after graduating from West Point. He served as an attack helicopter platoon leader in support of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1998-2001 and deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iraq.
