The Jets have completed an interview with Brian Gaine for their general manager position.
Gaine, who is in his second stint with the Bills, is Buffalo's assistant GM. He returned to Buffalo in 2019 in the role of senior personnel adviser, a position he held for three seasons before he was promoted.
The Bills have captured the AFC East title the past five seasons and entered the playoffs as the AFC's No. 2 seed.
Gaine has previous GM experience, having held the post with the Houston Texans in 2018-19. The year before, Beane was the Bills vice president of player personnel.
Gaine started his scouting career with the Jets from 1999-2004 before moving to the Cowboys as their assistant director of pro scouting from 2005-07. He also held the positions of assistant director of player personnel (2008-10), director of player personnel (2011) and assistant GM (2012-13) with the Miami Dolphins.
Born in Pearl River, NY, Gaine attended Don Bosco Prep HS in Ramsey, NJ, and played tight end. He played collegiately for Maine and went undrafted in 1995 before signing with the Jets. He also spent time with the Giants (1996) and Chiefs (1997,) but didn't see any game action.
Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a general manager and head coach. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinate interviews.
