Hello to all of you amazing Jets fans out there! I know that after the holiday season, most people feel a great sense of relief that such a hectic time is over, but I always like to take a moment to think back on how lucky I am to have such thoughtful friends and family. While I appreciate each gift from every person that thought of me this past holiday, I have to say one special person definitely had the standout gift of the year.
My boyfriend surprised me with tickets, after my last Thursday rehearsal of the season, to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. While I had been dropping hints that I'd love to see the Rockettes since the posters went up around NYC, I didn't think he was actually listening! He had planned a whole night complete with dinner, tickets in the orchestra section, and a meet-and-greet photo session with one of the Rockettes! I was thrilled! I know this may seem crazy to you tri-state area Jets fans, but coming from Massachusetts, I had never seen the Rockettes show in my life, so the fact that I was going to see them, and with such great seats, was far more than I could have ever asked for.
The night of the show came, and I was like a little kid waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve. Dinner was fantastic, and I became more and more excited as we approached Radio City Music Hall. My eyes lit up as I took in the lobby. From the art deco architecture to the massive crystal chandelier, I was in awe.
The usher led us to our seats, and as we kept walking, and walking, and walking some more, I couldn't believe it. We were FRONT ROW, as close as you could get without being on stage. I was on cloud nine! The show started, we put on our 3D glasses, and I don't think I stopped smiling for the entire performance. My favorite number was the Toy Soldier piece, as it was amazing to see how in sync the ladies were with each other.
Seeing the Rockettes was so inspiring, especially as it was the night before the Flight Crew performed our own Holiday Halftime routine. As a performer, it was amazing to be close enough to see the little details of the performance; how perfect their formations were, and how they just seemed to sparkle with every ounce of their being. Their famous kick line was stunning, of course, and I left Radio City with so much excitement for the next day.
I walked into the Flight Crew locker room on Christmas Eve amped up and ready to go! I was determined to bring out my inner Rockette — with a little Flight Crew flair added, of course! I will forever treasure the memories, and cannot wait for my next Christmas in the Big Apple!
Jets Fans, I hope that you can all think of a gift you have received that you can really appreciate, because while the gift itself may be lost or go out of style, the memory of it is what you will always treasure.
—Cheers!
