The Jets like rookie cornerback Brandon Dixon's speed and they wasted little time signing the sixth-round pick (No. 195 overall) to his first pro contract.
Dixon, a 5'11", 203-pounder who had six interceptions and 22 pass defenses in two seasons at Northwest Missouri State, posted a 4.41-second 40 time at the NFL Combine.
"At his school, wow, it was zero coverage or cover-one," said Rex Ryan. "So he's got the guts, I'll tell you that. He's played it. The measurables, he's got size, he's got speed, and the thing that I was impressed with when you saw all the scouts' and the coaches' grades, it was competitiveness."
Dixon, who was the first of the Jets' four Round 6 selections, was the second CB of the Green & White's 2014 draft class. Maryland CB Dexter McDougle went to the Jets in the third round.
"Rex Ryan is going to love me," Dixon told newyorkjets.com after being drafted. "He is going to love the way I get physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage."
