Transcript of interview with RB Thomas Jones during the locker room media period after Friday's practice:
RB THOMAS JONES
On the running game …
I felt like we did some good things last week. We want to continue on what we did last week. We had a good week of practice. We are getting more chemistry with the running backs and offensive line, so I feel like we are going in the right direction. We played two really good defenses and they played two really good games against us. It is a long season and we have to keep working.
On facing the Dolphins …
Both teams want to get a win. We are in the same division, so it's a big game. We want to get our first win and a division win, so there is definitely a sense of urgency.
On Miami's defense …
They have a great defense and some great playmakers over there. They have some guys who have been playing together for a while. We have to come to play Sunday. It's the Dolphins and Jets and everyone knows it's a pretty big rivalry. It's going to be a tough game for both teams.
On the possibility of facing the Dolphins without LB Zach Thomas …
We are approaching the game as though he's playing. He's a great player and has been a great player in this league for a long time. We're not even looking at it like that. We're assuming he is going to play and we will be prepared for him. [The Dolphins announced this afternoon that Thomas will not play against the Jets.]
On QB Chad Pennington …
Chad is an older guy who has been around for a long time and knows the offense. He is the leader of this team and anytime you have one of your leaders in the huddle, it works.
