Transcript of interviews with selected Jets players during the locker room media period after Friday's midday practice:
DE SHAUN ELLIS
On stopping Giants RBs Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward …
You have to know each guy's running style. Jacobs is a downhill guy with power. Once he gets into the open field, he can make guys miss. Ward has power and speed. We have to gang-tackle, play the correct run defense and stop the run.
On the importance of getting a win this week …
Regardless of our record, it is very important because you want to win. This is an important game for us because we are trying to get a win and bounce back.
On playing the Giants …
It is already built up enough. Our record is not where we want it to be. We will come out ready to play and I'm sure they will come out ready to play. Anytime you play against another team in the state it is good competition. For the rest of the year you can say you beat those guys and get a little bit of bragging rights.
RB THOMAS JONES
On the Giants defense …
They have a really athletic defense. They have some really good players over there. They have played well together for a while, so we definitely know they are going to play hard. They did a great job last week in the Eagles game and they are kind of on a roll. We look forward to having a good game.
On the Giants' 12-sack performance against the Eagles …
I'm sure they are pretty happy about what they did last week. Each game is different. We have our game plan and that is what we are focused on.
