As the Jets reported for their 2024 training camp on Tuesday, WR Garrett Wilson looked forward to the summer grind ahead.

"Just having all the guys back, looking around, seeing all the faces we had, everyone getting back healthy, we're excited," Wilson said. "It's going to carry into the first couple of practices and then once that shine's gone, we got to find a way to dig deep and find it again because we got a big training camp ahead of us."

Despite becoming the first Jets wideout with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons since Keyshawn Johnson in 1998-99, Wilson is focused on improving across several fronts.

"I had to find a way to attack the spring and summer in a different way every day," Wilson said. "Find the beauty in the work and make sure you're attacking it. It can get repetitive, and you just have to always be finding something to attack. With my offseason, I want to improve on things I am not good at and that took a lot of different shapes."

One of those shapes was Wilson's strength. He weighed in at 187 pounds on report day – four pounds heavier than he did at the start of training camp in 2023. Now with more muscle, Wilson feels better equipped to handle the grind of an 18-week season.

"When I first got to the league, I wasn't strong enough," said Wilson, who appeared in all 34 games in 2022-23. "I could skate by on some things because of what I do offer, but that year took a toll on me physically. I had to find a way to get bigger and stronger as a result.

"When it comes to physicality, I think a lot of coordinators tried to attack me, telling their guys to be physical. I am really trying to match that this year and feel like I am in a great position to do so."

On the mental side, Wilson dove into the film room throughout the spring and early stages of summer. Not only studying his own film, Wilson also reviewed Rodgers tape from his 18-year run in Green Bay.

"I have been watching years past and trying to see all the looks that Aaron has gotten from previous coordinators because we will probably get those looks again," Wilson said. "I have just been expanding my knowledge of the game."

The early returns have been positive. During OTAs, Wilson and Rodgers were on the same page hooking up for several big gains in scrimmage periods against the Jets' stout defense.

"With more reps comes better understanding," Wilson said. "Understanding where to be and when to be there on the field. I feel like we all feel a natural comfort since it is a second year in the offense playing with a guy like Aaron. The familiarity will make us better. Once you understand it, you can play at a different speed."
