Heading into Week 10, the Jets (3-6) are halfway through the 2024 season schedule.
After playing in four time zones and in six primetime games (including two on Thursday) over the first nine weeks, the Jets are slated to play the rest of their games on Sundays (Week 18 is TBD), including a six-game stretch from Week 12-16 of 1p.m. Eastern kickoffs. The Green & White has an even split of home and road games over the final eight contests, including one trip West and back-to-back weeks in Florida.
The Jets will face two teams with a current record above .500 and the Green & White's remaining opponents are a combined 28-33 this season.
Below is a snapshot of the rest of the upcoming opponents.
Week 10 – at Cardinals (5-4, 1st place in NFC West)
This will be the Green & White's farthest trip in the back half of its schedule. Arizona is led by dynamic QB Kyler Murray, who ranks No. 11 in passing yards with 2,142. His 350 rushing yards are the third-most among all signal-callers this season. The Cards have the league's No. 7 rushing attack led by RB James Conner, whose 664 yards are the sixth-most this season. Arizona's defense ranks No. 25 in the NFL and allows an average of 361.4 yards per game.
Week 11 – vs. Colts (4-5, 2nd place in AFC South)
This is shaping up to be the second time in as many years that the Jets will face their former QB in Joe Flacco. Flacco led the Browns to a 37-20 victory over the Green & White last season and took over for Colts QB Anthony Richardson last week, who was benched. This game features a pair of the league's best running backs in Breece Hall and Jonathan Taylor, who each have 502 yards on the ground through 9 weeks. Indianapolis' defense ranks bottom third in the league in most categories, but is good at nabbing turnovers — its 15 takeaways are tied for the fourth-most in the league.
Week 12 - BYE
Week 13 – vs Seahawks (4-5, 4th place in NFC West)
Seattle's forte is airing the ball out. Quarterback Geno Smith leads the NFL with 2,560 passing yards and the Hawks rank No. 1 in passing yards per game (268.2). The Seahawks offense, otherwise, ranks No. 28 in rushing, No. 24 on third -own conversion and No. 29 in turnovers. Led by first-year head coach Mike Macdonald, Seattle's defense ranks No. 23 overall and has a pair of young, talented corners in Tariq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon.
Weeks 14 & 18 – Dolphins (2-6, 3rd place in AFC East)
Miami is at home in Week 14. The Dolphins are a different team with QB Tua Tagovailoa back under center, who led the league with 4,624 passing yards last season. Miami has averaged 21 points per game in the four games Tagovailoa played (27 over the last two weeks) and 10 in the four games he missed with a concussion. The offense's calling card is still speed with WR Tyreek Hill, WR Jaylen Waddle, RB De'Von Achane and RB Raheem Mostert, and the Fins defense ranks No. 7 overall.
Week 15 – at Jaguars (2-7, 4th place in AFC South)
This game will be the Green & White's third and final set of back-to-back travel weeks. Jacksonville has underperformed to start the 2024 season after finishing 9-8 each of the last two seasons. It has a talented group of skill players, including rookie WR Brian Thomas, and is quarterbacked by the No. 1 overall pick in 2021, Trevor Lawrence. Thomas, drafted No. 23 overall out of LSU, ranks No. 8 in the NFL with 595 receiving yards. A vertical threat in college, Thomas' 17 yards per catch is the fifth-highest mark among wideouts this season who have taken at least 200 routes. Jacksonville's defense ranks No. 31 overall and is, statistically, the worst unit the Jets' offense will play against the rest of the season.
Week 16 – vs. Rams (4-4, 2nd place in NFC West)
The Rams are on a heater and have rifled off three consecutive wins after a 1-4 start. QB Matt Stafford leads theNFL with 577 passing yards over the last two weeks and his Pro Bowl wideouts Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua have been back in the lineup. Los Angles has averaged 50 more yards of offense the last two games although the offense has consistently struggled to establish the run (No. 26 overall, 97.1 yards/game).
Week 17 – at Bills (7-2, 1st place in AFC East)
The Jets' second-to-last game comes on the road in what could be a frigid day in Orchard Park, NY. The Green & White lost to Buffalo, 23-20, in Week 6 on "Monday Night Football." Bills QB Josh Allen was held to 215 passing yards, but Buffalo ran for 149 yards and averaged 4.5 yards per carry. Without RB James Cook in the lineup, rookie RB Ray Davis led the team in rushing (97 yards) and receiving (55). Buffalo could have reinforcements on defense — edge rusher Von Miller did not play in the first meeting and All-Pro LB Matt Milano, who has not played this season because of a biceps injury, could return before this game.
