The Jets have re-signed wide receiver/kick returner Jeremy Ross. To make room on the 53-man active roster, they have waived linebacker Taiwan Jones.
Ross (6'0", 215) begins his third tour of duty with the Green & White this season. He was signed as an unrestricted free agent in April, was a final cut in September, then was re-signed Sept. 29 and released Oct. 11.
He had a 28-yard punt return and a 51-yard kickoff return in the preseason. Then he played in Game 4 against Seattle and Game 5 at Pittsburgh, getting in one kickoff return in each game.
For his career, Ross has played in 47 games with the Packers, Lions, Ravens, Raiders and Jets, with 77 punt returns for an 11.2-yard average and 68 kickoff returns at 25.1 yards/return.
Jones came to the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2015, was waived in September, then spent most of the season on the practice squad and the final three weeks on the active roster.
This year Jones was again a final cut but returned Oct. 26 and made his pro debut at Cleveland. He played 59 plays, exclusively on special teams, the past three games.
