Selected quotes from the Jets' and Eagles' locker rooms at Lincoln Financial Field following the Jets' 14-6 loss to the Eagles in the teams' preseason finale Thursday night:
Rookie QB Christian Hackenberg evaluating his long night of running the Jets offense over three-plus quarters..."I think it was an awesome learning experience for me at a very young age and very, very young in my career. It's something I'll definitely be able to look back on and learn from. I think it was good."
Jets head coach Todd Bowles on what he saw in Hackenberg's performance..."He was up and down. We let the rookies play for a long time so we're going to see their errors and their mistakes. With him, there were a lot of people on the field. Sometimes it looked like it was him and it wasn't, and sometimes it was him. There were a lot of mistakes on the field that we have to clean up, but it was to be expected."
Bowles on the decisions ahead as he, GM Mike Maccagnan and the Jets get down to their 53-man roster..."Maybe one or two tough ones for the most part. We'll meet on it tomorrow, later on tonight on the way back and in the morning, to make our decisions and see what's available and make sure we have the right guys."
WR Robby Anderson on his 44-yard touchdown reception from Bryce Petty..."I knew before the play I was going to beat [Eagles CB JaCorey Shepherd] because it was inside leverage and I beat him a couple of plays before on the go route, so I was confident. I looked up to the sky and saw the ball and, you know, went from there."
Bowles on the growth of Anderson this offseason and preseason..."He has a lot of confidence. You see growth in him from a confidence standpoint. He still has a lot to learn from the receiver standpoint, just from small, technical things about reading coverage and lining up and breaking off routes. But his confidence is high and he's made some plays and that will do that to anybody."
TE Jace Amaro on if he's worried at all about making the Jets' roster..."I feel like I played well enough in OTAs and throughout training camp. I got injured last week and missed a couple of practices. But other than that, I feel like I've been pretty consistent on the practice field. I think I've done what they've asked me to do in the passing game. Obviously, catching the ball out here is different than practice — I haven't played in so long. Getting the ball and handling it, it's just getting that back and getting the feel of it. I felt better out there today. I've never really been concerned about making the roster."
Eagles S Ed Reynolds on his 90-yard interception-return touchdown..."It was just a great pass rush. I think Bryan Braman came off the edge and made some disruption. I was playing the route solid, and I was like, 'There's no way he's throwing this ball.' And he threw it and it just came and the rest happened."
