The New York Jets parted ways with GM Joe Douglas and announced Phil Savage will serve as the team's interim general manager.

"Today, I informed Joe Douglas he will no longer serve as the general manager of the New York Jets," said Jets Chairman Woody Johnson in a statement. "I want to thank Joe for his commitment to the Jets over the last six years and wish him and his family the best moving forward. Phil Savage will be the interim general manager for the remainder of the season. We will begin the process to identify a new general manager immediately."

Entering their bye week, the Jets own a 3-8 record and have lost six of their past seven games. On Oct. 8, the Jets parted ways with Robert Saleh and elevated defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to interim head coach.

Savage, who has more than 25 years of NFL front office experience, was in his sixth season with the Jets as the team's senior football advisor. Prior to joining the Jets, Savage, who was the Cleveland Browns senior vice president and general manager from 2005-08, worked as the Reese's Senior Bowl executive director from 2012-18.

Douglas was in his sixth season as general manager of the Green & White after being named to the position in June 2019.
