The Jets announced today they have exercised their fifth-year option on Sheldon Richardson. About to enter his fourth pro season, Richardson has started 42 games for the Green & White while collecting 226 tackles and 16.5 sacks.
The 6'3", 294-pound Richardson, a Missouri product whom the Jets selected No. 13 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft, racked up five sacks last season in only 11 games. He was voted the 2014 Curtis Martin Team MVP by his teammates after leading the club with eight sacks and adding 84 tackles in 2014.
