The Jets announced they have promoted S Ronald Martin and OL Craig Watts from the practice squad and placed S Marcus Gilchrist and T Breno Giacomini on IR.
The 6'2", 220-pound Martin has spent the majority of this season on the p-quad after he played in eight games for the team in 2015. Martin originally spent time with the Seahawks last year before the Jets claimed him off of waivers in September. The LSU product played in 24 games for the Tigers, racking up 76 tackles, six PDs and three INTs.
Watts has spent the entirety of 2016 on the Jets' practice squad and was originally signed to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 11. The 6'3", 335-pounder played the second-most snaps among Jets offensive linemen this preseason with 159.
Gilchrist, in his second year with the Green & White, tore the patellar tendon in his right knee against the 49ers on the opening kickoff of the second half. The Clemson product is T4 on the team with 60 total tackles and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions.
In the five games Giacomini played in this season, the Jets averaged 109.4 yards per game on the ground. However, Giacomini reinjured his back against the Colts and was inactive for Sunday's game in San Francisco. Prior to this season, Giacomini had started 32 consecutive games for New York's AFC representative.
