The Jets made it official, announcing the re-signing of veteran T Ben Ijalana.
The 27-year-old Ijalana started the first 13 games of his career in 2016 while appearing in all 16 games. Playing both RT and LT, the 6'4", 332-pounder totaled 868 offensive plays and 925 overall snaps, ranking fourth most on the offense and fifth most on the team respectively.
Ijalana began the season in a rotation at RT with Brent Qvale, making five starts there. Then the fifth-year pro flipped over to the left side when Ryan Clady went down with a shoulder injury and he made eight starts protecting the blind sides of the Jets QBs.
A second-round pick of the Colts in 2011, Ijalana was originally claimed off waivers by the Jets on Sep. 1, 2013. The North Brunswick, NJ native has appeared in 23 career games.
The Jets have made a number of moves up front this offseason, signing T Kelvin Beachum, re-signing RG Brian Winters, giving C Wesley Johnson a second-round tender, declining an option on Clady and releasing C Nick Mangold.
