The Jets released 14 players today to begin the process of reducing their active roster to 75 players by the NFL's Tuesday 4 p.m. ET deadline.
The players released include RB-KR Joe McKnight, the Jets' fourth-round draft choice in 2010, plus three veteran free agents — G Stephen Peterman, S Bret Lockett and S Donnie Fletcher. Four first-year players and six rookies were also released.

OL — Patrick Ford, Trey Gilleo, Stephen Peterman
WR — Joe Collins, Marcus Rucker, K.J. Stroud, Rahsaan Vaughn
LB — Sean Progar-Jackson
DB — Donnie Fletcher, Bret Lockett
ST — P Ryan Quigley, LS Patrick Scales
After Tuesday, the deadline for the NFL's mandatory cutdown to 53 players is Saturday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. ET.
