Jets Release T Willis, QB Kinne

The New York Jets have released tackle Ray Willis and waived quarterback G.J. Kinne. The announcements were made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Willis (6'6", 304) joined the Jets as a free agent May 29. He spent six seasons with Seattle (2005-2010) after being drafted by the Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He started 26 of 49 games, including all 16 games in 2009, before spending the 2010 season on injured reserve. In 2011 he signed as a free agent with New Orleans on Nov. 2 and spent two weeks on the active roster before being waived.

Kinne (6'2", 234) signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent April 30 and spent the offseason through the full-squad minicamp with the team. A three-year starter at Tulsa, Kinne completed his college career ranked second in school history in total yards (10,831), passing yards (9,472) and touchdown passes (81). He was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year as a junior after completing 60 percent of his passes for 3,650 yards and 31 touchdowns.
