The New York Jets have released two players and signed three players tonight.
The players released are wide receiver Jordan White, a seventh-round draft choice in 2012 out of Western Michigan, and cornerback Eric Crocker, a first-year player from Arkansas-Monticello signed in March.
The newly signed players are wide receiver Michael Campbell, running back Mossis Madu and center Erik Cook.
Campbell (6'1", 203) returns to the Jets after spending practice-squad time with them in 2011. The Jets re-signed him in January 2012, released him in March, and St. Louis signed him and made him a final cut last August. Campbell played his college ball at Temple, where he was an Owls teammate of current Jets Muhammad Wilkerson and Jaiquawn Jarrett.
Madu (6'0", 197) was signed by Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played in nine games with the Buccaneers that season, rushing for 55 yards on 15 carries and catching 10 passes for 72 yards. He was a Bucs final cut last August. With Oklahoma Madu played 40 games as a RB and WR, scoring nine TDs, and also was the Sooners' primary kickoff returner as a junior.
Cook (6'6", 308) was a seventh-round pick of Washington out of New Mexico in the 2010 draft. He spent most of '10 on the Redskins' practice squad and didn't play. Then in '11 he played in six games, starting two for the 'Skins. Last season he was a final cut by Washington. He was a three-year starter for New Mexico and for two years was the leader of the Lobos' strong O-line, nicknamed "The Hitmen." Now this former college Hitman will run into MLB David "The Hitman" Harris at Jets training camp.
