Six of the Jets' seven draft picks were in action Saturday as the Green & White notched a their second straight preseason victory over the Carolina Panthers, 15-12, in Charlotte, NC Saturday night. Below is a recap of how several first-year players performed.

T Olu Fashanu (Rd. 1, No. 11)
After getting work at right tackle in practice during the this week, Fashanu made his first career start at the position of his career – college or pro. The Penn State product started at left tackle in the preseason opener against the Commanders.

"New spot, it's never easy," HC Robert Saleh said. "I thought he did a nice job. He handled it well. That first practice he was at right tackle was pretty rough for him, and I thought he got better as the week went on. He had the holding penalty today, but overall, I thought he did a pretty good job."

Fashanu played the entire first half (29 offensive snaps, 48%) and put together a strong performance despite being inexperienced on that side of the line. The Jets averaged 4.1 yards per carry in the first half, rushing for 66 yards on 16 attempts.

WR Malachi Corley (Rd. 3, No. 65)
Corely had a quiet evening playing just 15 offensive snaps (25%) and recording 2 catches for 10 yards. However, late in the first half, however, the former Western Kentucky receiver converted a fourth-and-1. He got open on a drag route and QB Andrew Peasley found him for a six6-yard pickup. The conversion led to a field goal to tie the game, 3-3.

RBs Braelon Allen (Rd. 4, No. 134) & RB Isaiah Davis (Rd. 5, No. 173)
The Jets' dynamic rookie running back duo took on a heavy workload in the first half for the second straight week. Allen touched the ball 10 times in the first half with 8 carries for 29 yards and 2 receptions for 12 yards. He played 16 (26%) offensive snaps including a vicious first-down carry in late in the second quarter.

"All the backs really did have a good run but there was a third-and-6 where Allen had a violent run where he moved the pile," Saleh said. "We picked him for a lot reasons, because he is actually really good as a route runner and in pass protection, too, and I think an all-around really good back."

Davis tacked on 14 yards on 4 rushes and doubled up his duties returning two punts. The South Dakota State former tailback got the first few carries of the game and set the tone picking up two first downs on the opening series.

CB Qwan'tez Stiggers (Rd. 5, No. 176)
Stiggers impressed enough in practice to get the start playing 24 snaps (45%) and making his presence felt as a gunner on special teams. On the Panthers first offensive snap of the game, the former CFL defensive back came flying in to knock down Carolina RB Mike Boone at the line of scrimmage. He finished with two2 defensive tackles. In punt coverage, during the second quarter, he won off the line and got into great position, sending a blocker flying into fair-catcher David Moore.

S Jaylen Key (Rd. 7, No. 257)
Key kept up his reputation as a hard-hitting and experienced safety playing the second-most snaps defensive snaps on the team (37, 70%). Statistically, Key had a quiet night finishing with one tackle, but battled hard as the Jets held the Panthers to 156 total yards on offense and 3-of-11 on third down.

QBs Andrew Peasley
Peasley got the start for the Green & White and meticulously led a 17-play, 49-yard drive over 8:44 resulting in a 36-yard field goal by K Greg Zuerlein to tie the game, 3-3, at the end of the first half. He finished 7 of 11 for 33 yards and showed off his mobility as well, rushing 4 times for 25 yards.

CB/Returner Brandon Codrington
Codrington, a product of North Carolina Central, burst on the scene with pair of impressive returns to set up scoring drives. To start the second half, he took the kickoff 63 yards to the Panthers 32-yard line. He also had 31-yard punt return in which he reversed field and broke free up the sideline. Both returns led to field goals by backup K Austin Siebert.

"I just saw green grass," Codrington said of his long kickoff return. "My coach has been preaching cut back and I just trusted him, my teammates and the blocking. I just saw it open up."
