The Jets have completed an interview with Jon Robinson for the team's general manager position.
Robinson, who was the Tennessee Titans general manager from 2016-22, oversaw a transition of a team that went 3-13 in 2015 and never had a losing season from 2016-21. With Robinson at general manager, the Titans compiled a 66-43 record, captured two AFC South crowns and made four postseason trips. During his tenure, Robinson drafted several future impact players including RB Derrick Henry (R2, No. 45 in 2016), T Jack Conklin (R1, No. 8 in 2016), S Kevin Byard (R3, No. 64 in 2016), TE Jonnu Smith (R3, No. 100 in 2017) and OLB Harold Landry (R2, No. 41 in 2018).
Robinson, who was a DL at the Air Force Academy and Southeast Missouri State, joined SEMO's coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 1998. He served in the same capacity at Nicholls State (1999-2000) and moved to linebackers coach in 2001.
Beginning his NFL career as an area scout for the Patriots in 2002, Robinson was promoted to regional scout in 2006-07. He climbed to assistant director of college scouting in 2008 before taking over as the director of college scouting from 2009-2012. Robinson won two Super Bowls with the Pats before moving south to Tampa.
He served as the Buccaneers director of player personnel from 2013-15 before being named GM of the Titans on Jan. 14, 2016. Tennessee advanced to the AFC Championship game following the 2019 season after capturing road wins over the Patriots on wild card weekend and the Ravens on divisional weekend.
Robinson is the second candidate to interview for the Jets' GM post. The team announced on Monday they had completed an interview with former Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff.
Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a general manager and head coach. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinate interviews. Phil Savage and Jeff Ulbrich are serving as the team's interim general manager and head coach, respectively.
