Just give me the damn interview.
That's what I'm thinking this morning as ESPN Analyst Keyshawn Johnson has made an unexpected visit to SUNY Cortland on Day 1 of Training Camp. I'm headed out to practice now, but let me know what Jets players you want to hear by either sending me an email: eajets@newyorkjets.com or on twitter @nyjets with the hashtag #EA to contact me directly.
Johnson, the No. 1 overall pick of the Jets in the 1996 NFL Draft, has a good relationship with a number of players here including fellow USC alum Mark Sanchez. So while I try to get Key, please send in some of your requests. And if you have some questions for players, I'm going to try to ask them too.
I'll always have a soft spot for Keyshawn. When I broke into the league in the summer of 2000 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Key had just landed there from the Jets in exchange for two first rounders (No. 12 – Shaun Ellis and No. 27 – Anthony Becht). I was just an intern at the time and Johnson repeatedly would hound me about getting the newspaper clippings out in a timely fashion, but he always made time to sit down and talk sports. And after my first season in the NFL, I was out in LA on vacation and Keyshawn set me up at his soul food restaurant, Reign. Not only did he set me up with a table, but he took care of the bill. Classy move.
