LB Sapp Signed from Practice Squad

The New York Jets have signed linebacker Ricky Sapp from the practice squad to the active roster and have signed safety Antonio Allen to the practice squad. The announcements were made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Sapp (6'4", 252) was originally a fifth-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 2010 who missed the season after being placed on injured reserve. He was signed to the Jets practice squad on Oct. 31, 2011, and was added to the active roster before the final regular season game on Dec. 29. He rejoined the Jets practice squad on Sept. 1 after being waived following the final preseason game. He was then released from the practice squad three days later and re-signed to the practice squad on Sept. 11.

Allen (6'1", 210) entered the NFL as a seventh-round selection by the Jets in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was waived following the preseason on Sept. 1 and was signed to the practice squad the next day. Allen played in three games after he was signed from the practice squad on Oct. 12 and contributed two tackles, a sack and a special teams fumble recovery before he was waived two days ago.
