Jets Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall came in at number 25 on NFL Network's "Top 100 Players of 2016." This is his highest ranking on the list and he accompanies Matt Forte, Muhammad Wilkerson, and Darrelle Revis as the Jets' representatives.
In his first year with the team, Marshall became the single-season franchise leader in receptions (109) and receiving yards (1,502). He also tied for the league best with a career high 14 touchdowns.
"He doesn't like to go down, he doesn't mind trying to run you over," said Colts receiver Donte Moncreif. "When the ball is in the air, he's going to attack and that's what makes him really good. Just the way he attacks as a receiver. And he's not afraid to go over the middle."
Marshall was the first splash acquisition by the PFWA's Executive of the Year Mike Maccagnan. He led the team in eight offensive categories, including scoring, yards per catch and yards from scrimmage.
"B-Marsh has a mean stiff arm," said Jaguars safety Sergio Brown. "When he's on he knows how to use his body, wingspan. When you see him and he's on, he's a force to be reckoned with."
While Marshall's first year in offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's system produced career numbers, he feels the unit is further along than they were at this point last spring.
"We're kicking their [the defense] butt," he said after OTAs. "Last year they whooped us. Now, we're whoopin on that top five defense over there. It feels pretty good too, a little payback from last year."
