The Jets have completed an interview Chiefs assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi for the team's vacant GM position.
In his role with Kansas City, Borgonzi supervises and directs the club's college and professional scouting operations while supporting and advising general manager Brett Veach with the club's roster management and player acquisition. Borgonzi has helped assembled three Super Bowl championship teams.
He first joined the Chiefs in 2009 as an administrator of college scouting before he was named manager of football operations ('10), pro scout ('11-'12), assistant director of pro scouting ('13-'14), director of player personnel ('15-'17) and director of football operations ('18-'20). He's been the assistant GM since '21.
Borgonzi, from Everett, MA, played fullback at Brown University where he earned All-Ivy League honors three times. He spent the 2002 season at Amherst College as the team's tight ends coach before joining Boston College as an assistant recruiting coordinator from 2007-08.
Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a general manager and head coach. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinating interviews.
