Transcripts of interviews with Jets players following Monday's morning training camp practice:
QB KELLEN CLEMENS
On his performance Friday vs. Atlanta ...
Flawless, it wasn't quite, but I appreciate it. The success we had was really just a tribute to the guys that I was out there with. The second group has worked very hard, and we're pushing to move the ball. Now being in our second year like most of us, Brad Smith, Wallace Wright and Leon Washington, then the second year this offense really makes the difference.
On being prepared to step in as starting quarterback …
You never want to jinx somebody, especially Chad Pennington. He's a great guy and a great quarterback, but the backup quarterback's job is to be ready when called upon. You never know if that's going to happen, you hope it doesn't happen due to injury, but it's your job to be ready when called upon
On live play …
There were definitely nerves. It's been a while since I've been out there with live bullets. After the first play, generally for me it's after I get knocked down. You settle in, you realize it's just football, and you get down to playing.
On the touchdown pass to Chansi Stuckey …
Great play by Chansi. He beat the defensive back on the third route. Ball was a little underthrown. That's just a tribute to Chansi and his athletic ability out there at wide receiver
CB ANDRE DYSON
On this year's camp compared to last year's …
With the schedule, everything's the same. Just the fact that you've been through it and have been through the defenses, it's a little easier than last year when you're trying to learn the defense and get familiar with the players. Now it's more just go out there and play. Once you get the thinking part out, it slows the game down and makes it more fun. That's the difference this year.
On joining a new team last season …
If you put your mind to it and work hard and have the patience to know it will take time, you can just go out there and play. At the end of the day, football is football. If you can play football, you can pick up on stuff very quick.
DT SIONE POUHA
On spending last season on injured reserve ...
It was tough. I knew I wanted to be out there but I had another mission, which was to take care of my injury. I took care of that and I just cheered them on.
On his physical condition …
I'm feeling great. I'm making sure that I'm putting myself in the right situation where the coaches can use me in whatever system they may have. I just have to make sure I'm ready and prepared for wherever they want me to be.
On what the coaches have told him …
They just want me to be in great shape, be available and be on the field. Last year I wasn't on the field and I wasn't available, so they want me to be available and be healthy and ready to play.
On losing weight during the off-season …
Some of the fans have come up with old media guides and I have seen the gut that I had as a rookie and like I said before, you have to be available and be ready. Availability is not just being out on the field, it's being both mentally and physically ready to be on the field.
WR CHANSI STUCKEY
On his acrobatic catch vs. Atlanta …
The offensive line did a great job and Kellen did a great job getting the ball off, and all he really wanted to do was give me a chance, and I came up with the ball.
On what it takes to be in the NFL …
It requires a lot of dedication and sacrifice. Things that you did in college, you can't do when you get to the NFL. You just have to buckle down, learn your playbook and hopefully everything works out in the end.
On what he's focused on …
All I'm doing is going out there and making plays every day. I'm trying to show up on time every day. Kellen is doing a good job, and the offensive line is doing a good job, so whenever I get an opportunity I'll just try to make plays.
