Placekicker Nick Folk, who late last season expressed an interest in signing a long-term deal with the Jets, has signed a multiyear contract.
Folk, who was franchise-tagged on Feb. 28, enjoyed in 2013 arguably his best season in seven seasons as a pro and four with the Jets. He hit the game-winning field goals in the season opener against Tampa Bay, at Atlanta and at home in overtime against New England.
He remains among the NFL's top three most accurate fourth-quarter kickers of the past 24 seasons, with his 92.2% career rate (47-for-51) trailing only Stephen Gostkowski (96.9%) and Denver's Matt Prater (94.0%).
Those game-winning kicks were three of the career-high 33 field goals he made in 36 attempts for a career-high 91.7% accuracy. He also broke our franchise records for most consecutive field goals from the start of a season (23) and most consecutive home field goals (20), and he recorded a career-high 30 kickoff touchbacks.
For his Jets career, Folk has an 81.1% accuracy on his regular-season field goal tries (103-for-127) and for his career the figure is 80.3% (167-for-208).
