The Jets head into Week 18 eliminated from playoff contention but adamant they still have plenty of to play for. With a season-ending victory over Miami at MetLife Stadium Sunday, the Jets would spoil Miami's playoff hopes.

"I think some guys really get motivated by all sorts of things," interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said. "Being the spoiler or whatever the case may be. I'm going to say this a million times before the week is over, but we still have a ton to play for, regardless of context, of the score, the record, any of that stuff. We still get to demonstrate exactly who we are. Not just to honor this team, this organization, these relationships that we've made here, but also to honor ourselves."

The Dolphins need a victory over the Green & White and a loss by the Denver Broncos against the Kansas City Chiefs to clinch a wild card spot. The postseason berth would be Miami's third straight.

"Whatever helps you get ready to play on Sunday, so be it," TE Tyler Conklin said. "Playing the spoiler role is great but also as a professional athlete and someone who gets paid a lot of money to play this game, you have all the motivation in the world to go out there and perform."

Miami got the better of the Jets in Week 14, defeating the Green & White 32-26 in overtime. New York led 26-23 and allowed Miami to get into field goal range and tie the game with :07 seconds remaining in regulation. The Dolphins then won the game in overtime with a 10-yard touchdown strike from QB Tua Tagovailoa to TE Jonnu Smith.

"Just like a lot of games this season, our first matchup came down to the wire," LB Jamien Sherwood said. "It was another game about being at our best when our best is required. That game was winnable, and we needed to be in a position to win it and we weren't. There are definitely adjustments that will be made."

Preparing for Two Quarterbacks
In their 20-3 victory over the Browns on Sunday, the Dolphins started QB Tyler Huntley in place of Tua Tagovailoa, who was out with a hip injury.

Miami HC Mike McDaniel stated Monday that Huntley will get more practice reps this week with Tagovailoa's status for Week 18 unknown. The Jets defense plans to prepare for both, ahead of Sunday's matchup.

"Both of those quarterbacks are great," LB Jamien Sherwood said. "From a schematic standpoint, the things that would be different would be our zones and our underneath coverages. Tua hasn't been running as much lately because of his injuries, and that would be something we would have to worry about with Huntley."

Huntley is 2-2 as a starter for the Dolphins this season and thrown for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception and rushed for 2 scores. Tagovailoa is 6-5 as the starter and has completed a league-leading 72.9% of his passes with 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

"There are some differences between them, but at the end of the day it is about stopping their weapons," Sherwood said. "Making sure they're not able to utilize their receivers the way they want to and stopping their elite running backs."

Will McDonald's Second-Year Jump
A bright stop in the closing stretch of the season for the Jets has been the play of second-year edge Will McDonald IV. The Iowa State product has produced a career-high 10.0 sacks and 21 QB hits in 14 starts (16 games).

Despite not registering a sack since Week 13, McDonald has still found ways to affect the quarterback. He drew a pair of holding calls in Week 17 versus Buffalo and leads the team with 9 QB pressures in the last 4 games according to PFF.

"He is still absolutely affecting quarterbacks," IHC Jeff Ulbrich said. "I know the sack numbers haven't necessarily been what he's wanted, and that's not always indicative of a pass rusher you know. He has gotten the quarterback consistently off the spot, he's consistently going against the best tackle, the left tackle, on the offense, and he's consistently winning, and that's all a byproduct of this process that we spoke of before regarding him, especially this offseason, but throughout this season I've really found him find a real, defined process, which is always, that's a big transition from year one to two."
