Players, Lyons Ahead on Media Thursday

The Jets will hold their second open locker room media session of the off-season on Thursday, a week after Rex Ryan & Co. opened the inner sanctum's big double doors to reporters a week ago.

We wanted to alert you to the prospect of another bonanza of stories on this year's Jets that will be appearing on newyorkjets.com as well as in your favorite newspaper sports sections and on your favorite TV and radio outlets.

Also expected to be in the neighborhood Thursday will be Marty Lyons, the Jets' radio analyst and hallowed Sack Exchange member. We're anticipating getting our "Jets Two-Minute Drive: Off-Season Edition" back up and airing with a conversation with Lyons — on Rex, the defense, Jay Cutler, the draft and anything else on Marty's mind — late tomorrow.

Clowney "Moves Up"

David Clowney's stock is on the increase — if you measure the increase by the change in his uniform number.

The young, fast wideout, whom Jets fans have known as No. 17, will now wear No. 87, which of course was last worn by Laveranues Coles before he departed this off-season for Cincinnati. We'll be sure to check in with David on Thursday about the switch.

Final Preseason Schedule Pieces

The only bits of information missing from Tuesday's Radar entry on the Jets' preseason schedule were the date and kickoff time for the 41st annual Jets-Giants preseason game. That info is now available.

The Jets will play at the Giants — the teams' final meeting at the current Meadowlands stadium before they're scheduled to play again in the summer of 2010 at New Meadowlands Stadium — on Saturday, Aug. 29, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. EDT.

Condolences to Ira from Staten Island

We at the New York Jets and newyorkjets.com want to extend our condolences to Ira, our loyal contributor to the Radar and to seemingly all Internet, print and radio Jets outlets, and to his family for the loss of Ira's father, Ed, who passed away Monday night.

Ed began taking Ira to Jets games in 1963, the Jets' first year of existence following the three Titans seasons. The Green & White have entered their 47th season of life in 2009 and Ira has been there for each and every season.

Ira is very thankful to all of his friends here and elsewhere in Jets Nation for their thoughtfulness during this difficult time. We anticipate he'll be back strong as ever and with his dad still at his side very soon.
