The Jets have completed an interview with Ray Farmer for the team's general manager position.
Farmer, 50, is currently in his fourth season as the senior personnel executive with the Rams and fifth overall in Los Angeles after spending the 2020 season as a scouting consultant. Since taking over his current role, the Rams are 37-31 and have reached the playoffs three of the last four seasons, including a two NFC West titles (2021, 2024) and a Super Bowl LVI victory in February 2022.
Farmer, prior to joining the Rams, was the general manager of the Browns for two seasons (2014-15) and the assistant GM for one (2013). During his time as GM in Cleveland, the team had a 10-22 record and he was responsible for selecting three-time All-Pro G Joel Bitonio, as well as longtime pros T Cameron Erving and LB Christian Kirksey.
Before the Browns, Farmer was the Chiefs' director of pro personnel for seven seasons (2006-12) and a Falcons scout for three seasons (2002-05).
Farmer, a native of Kernersville, NC, played free safety at Duke University four seasons before being drafted in the fourth round (No. 121) by the Eagles in 1996. He played three seasons, appeared in 32 NFL games (16 starts) and registered 63 tackles (50 solo), 2.0 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble before his career was cut short due to a knee injury. He returned to Duke in 2001 to serve as an academic coordinator.
Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a head coach and general manager. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinate interviews.
