The Jets have placed guard Brian Winters on Injured Reserve. They have also elevated defensive lineman Deon Simon from the practice squad to the active roster, and they have signed DL Francis Kallon to the practice squad.
Winters, in his fifth season on the Jets' O-line, started 13 games at right guard. He suffered an abdomen injury in Game 2 at Oakland, sat out Game 3 vs. Miami, then played through the injury all the way until missing Sunday's game against the Chargers. He was in for 807 of the offense's 977 plays this season.
Winters has played in 64 Jets games (54 starts) since coming to the team as a third-rounder (72nd overall) out of Kent State in the 2013 draft.
Simon (6'4", 332) played in all four Jets preseason games before being a final cut and then signing with the Jets practice squad, where he had been all season. Simon was the Green & White's seventh-round pick (223rd overall) in the 2016 draft out of Northwestern State in Louisiana and played all 16 games that season, recording 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one pass defense.
Kallon (6'5", 294), a four-year D-lineman at Georgia Tech, signed as a free agent after the April draft with Pittsburgh. He was a final cut by the Steelers in September, then spent a week last month on Green Bay's practice squad.
