The Jets have completed a virtual interview with Ryan Grigson for the Green & White's GM vacancy.

Grigson, 52, has held various positions with a number of NFL (and Canadian and Arena league) teams since 1998. On June 12, 2022, he was named the senior vice president of player personnel by the Minnesota Vikings, a team that finished this past season with a 13-4 record and qualified for the playoffs in the NFC for the second time in three years.

Before joining the Vikings, Grigson held multiple positions with the St. Louis Rams (1999), the Philadelphia Eagles (2004-10) and then he was hired as the GM of the Indianapolis Colts.

"I picked Ryan because I felt that he had a vision, that he had an intelligence, that he had a depth of perception and awareness and that he was capable of taking it up to the next level," team owner Jim Irsay said in 2012.

After leaving the Colts, Grigson worked for the Cleveland Browns (2017; then 2020-21), with several years as a consultant in Seattle (2018-19) sandwiched in between his years in Ohio.

Grigson played football in high school in Highland, IN, and later in college at Purdue University, where he sustained a life-threatening injury during a game in October 1992. He returned to the field in 1993. He was drafted by Cincinnati in the sixth round (No. 175 overall) in 1995, was waived and then signed with Detroit. After being released in August 1996, he played in 1997 for Toronto of the CFL but was forced to retire after sustaining a serious back injury. He went on to scout for Saskatchewan of the CFL, was an assistant at McPherson College and then an executive and assistant coach for Buffalo of the Arena league.

Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a head coach and general manager. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinate interviews.
