After his first practice as a Jet, new Green & White TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins met with the media and expressed his desire to look ahead.
"What's in the past is in the past. I'm just thankful for the opportunity," he said. "There's an agreement and an understanding what's expected of me. Like I said, I'm not going to speak on the past. I'm excited for this opportunity. I'm thankful for this opportunity that they've given me and I'm going to take full advantage of it and go as hard as I can with it."
The 6'5", 262-pound Jenkins appeared in two games with the Buccaneers this season but was placed on waivers and claimed by the Jets on Monday. A second-round pick of the Buccaneers in 2014, the Washington product has 45 career catches for 603 yards and 7 touchdowns.
"I'm just focused on learning the plays right now. I'll bring all of that stuff to the field and I'll let you guys decide what I bring to that offense," he said. "My number one thing is just focusing on understanding the offense and going from there."
