Tebow: It's Florida So It's Fun

Transcript of quarterback Tim Tebow's news conference at his locker following the Jets' Wednesday afternoon practice at the Atlantic Health Training Center:

On if he should be called Tim or Mr. President…

[Laughing] Tim is just fine.

On the challenges they face playing the Dolphins…

It'll be exciting. It's a big game for us. They're a good team and they got a big win last week. This team knows them very well, playing them twice a year, and I got to play them last year. We have some of their old coaches here so I feel like we're able to learn a lot about them. I feel like we got a good grasp about who they are and they're a very good team. We'll have to be very well prepared.

On if it matters how much the media talks about his playing time…

I don't really pay attention to all of you so it doesn't matter to me [laughs]. I just try to be ready for whatever my role is and try to do it the best I can.

On if he thinks he has made the impact he expected so far…

I'm not sure. I just want to be ready when my number is called and be ready to go and provide a spark, try to be someone that can help this team win football games.

On the importance of the Miami game…

It's definitely a big game for us. They're a good team and they got a big win last week. We're going to have to be prepared.

On if there are special memories playing in Florida…

Well, it's Florida, so it's fun. Playing at the stadium is fun, though. I've had some good games in the stadium. I won a state championship and a national championship there, had some fun games. So yeah, it's a memorable stadium for me.

On the biggest offensive challenge against Miami…

They do a great job in stopping the run. They do a great job of giving their quarterback a lot of different looks, blitzing a lot of different guys, multiple guys, multiple pressures and you just have to be aware and see the whole field.

On his first start with Denver at Miami…

I remember that we needed some cool things to happen at the end to get a win. It was a fun game. It was my first start, so there are some great memories from that. It was obviously a pretty cool win.

On if he is eager to throw the ball…

I'm just excited to do whatever they want me to do, and just try to be ready. If any looks are there and they want me run, pass, do whatever, I'm ready to go.

On if he thinks a Wildcat passing play will happen soon…

I don't know. I just want to be ready for whatever they ask me to do, and try to do it with all of my ability.

On if he's rusty from not throwing the ball…

Not really. Hopefully I'll be able to execute whatever it is they ask. We'll take reps of all that stuff in practice, so I'll be ready to go.

On if they need to show they can pass out of the Wildcat…

I don't know. I think a lot of the teams that we play, or probably played against, or have seen recently, know that we have a threat down the field. I think eventually that'll be something to keep them on their heels, but I think that's already something that they plan on.

On how different the Miami team looks this year from last year…

I mean some of the guys are different. I felt like they were a good team last year. They did a lot of good things and I feel like they're going to be a good team this year. They're very good at stopping the run. They're very good at using multiple pressures, a lot of different guys come on blitzes and pressures, a lot of different coverage's. They disguise it well and they show you a lot of different things. They're very multiple and I think that's something you see watching the game last week against Oakland.

On if his friends and family ask him about his playing time…

Honestly, they just kind of let that be, and we just hang out and have fun. We try not to worry about that. When I go and I'm home with friends or family, I'm just home with them. I try to leave football here.

On if he has to keep himself from telling coaches that he can get this done …

I think you just have to know your role and where you're at and be smart about situations. If you're asked, you have to believe in yourself, be ready for whenever you're called when you're asked to go, then you can say something like that. As far as where I'm at now, I just try to be ready when I'm asked to go.

On if it's difficult to control his emotions…

No, you just know your role and where you're at and try to do the best with it.

On if he's comfortable voicing his opinion to the coaches about certain plays…

It's not that I feel uncomfortable, but I think the coaches believe in me and know what I can do, and vice versa. We have a plan and we're trying to stick with it and find a way to win games.

On if the coaches are still trying to find the best way to utilize him…

I just think we're trying to figure out how to win games the best way we can. We were very explosive the first week and we came out very explosive last week. Unfortunately, we were unable to capitalize on some of our moving the ball last week. We fell behind a few scores, but we'll see what happens this week.

On if it's fun playing in Florida…

It's still a lot of fun. I have some friends and family there, so that'll be fun. Playing in the stadium definitely means a lot to me as well.

On if he has family and friends attending the game… Yeah, friends and family. I don't know, probably at least 10 or so.
