The Jets have completed an interview Trey Brown for the general manager vacancy.
Brown, a senior personnel executive with the Cincinnati Bengals, has spent nine years in the NFL as a scout and executive. He started as a scouting assistant for the New England Patriots in 2010-12 before moving to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. Brown remained with the Eagles through 2018 in various capacities including director of college scouting.
In 2019, Brown left the NFL to become the executive vice president of football operations for the Alliance of American Football Birmingham Irons before moving on to the director of player personnel for the XFL's St. Louis BattleHawks in 2020. Brown returned to the NFL in 2021, where he became a scout with the Bengals.
Brown has interviewed for NFL general manager positions three previous times with the Buffalo Bills (2017), the Oakland Raiders (2018) and the Las Vegas Raiders (2022).
Brown, who is in his fifth year with the Cincinnati Bengals, began his NFL playing career with the Chicago Bears. One of the nation's top defensive backs at UCLA, Brown was a second-team Walter Camp All-America selection and a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award in 2007. He signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2008 and finished his professional career with the UFL's New York Sentinels in 2009.
A Kansas native, Brown was a cornerback at UCLA where he graduated with a degree in political science. He played three seasons for the Bruins and accumulated 146 total tackles, 1 sack, 7.5 TFL and 7 INTs.
