NFL.com's Marc Sessler played matchmaker in anticipation of pro free agency, which will officially start March 18. NFL teams, however, can begin negotiating with players who have expiring contracts two days prior to the new league year, which is frequently referred to as the "legal tampering period." Sessler wrote one fit for each AFC team and pegged Jaguars edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue for the Green & White.

"The work-in-progress Jets are tasked with bolstering an offensive line that finished 30th in PFF's pass-blocking efficiency metric last season while New York fielded the second-worst ground game in the NFL," Sessler wrote. "Sam Darnold deserves — and requires — better care entering his third campaign, but Gang Green is saddled with another burning need: locating a game-altering pass rusher. Ngakoue would make for a juicy addition on a front seven welcoming back a healthy C.J. Mosley at inside linebacker while hoping for a breakout second season from lineman Quinnen Williams."

Ngakoue will turn 25 years old in late March and has registered 37.5 sacks and 85 quarterback hits in four seasons with the Jags. He also has a career 121 tackles, 9 pass defenses and 14 forced fumbles.

Jets OLB Jordan Jenkins has led the club in sacks in each of the last two seasons is scheduled to hit free agency.
