The New York Jets have waived wide receiver Mardy Gilyard. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Gilyard (6'1", 187) entered the NFL as a 2010 fourth-round draft pick of St. Louis. In one season with the Rams, he caught six passes for 63 yards before he was waived following the 2011 preseason on Sept. 3, 2011. He was awarded off waivers to the Jets the next day but was waived six days later prior to the season opener.
Gilyard signed with Philadelphia on Jan. 6 and was waived during the preseason on Aug. 31. He re-signed with the Eagles on Sept. 10 and played in six games before being waived on Nov. 23 and then signing with the Jets on Nov. 28. He appeared in two games with the Jets, catching two passes for 15 yards. For his career, Gilyard has appeared in 19 games and has logged eight receptions for 78 yards.
