10 Players to Watch for in Sunday's Game
DB Antonio Allen returned to safety on Sunday and was beat for two touchdowns against San Diego TE Antonio Gates. It won't get any easier this week against the Broncos TE Julius Thomas. Thomas leads the NFL with seven touchdowns in Denver's first four games. Look for Double-A's coverage on Thomas.
The Green & White Offensive Line has a tough test in the Broncos defensive front that has two prolific pass rushers in DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller. Ware and Miller figure to be lined up against tackles D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Breno Giacomini, but it will be up to the entire line to keep these two at bay.
In his return to action after a quad injury, CB Dee Milliner was one of the bright spots in the team's 31-0 loss in San Diego. He had two pass defenses and was in on 72 of the defense's 74 plays. This week, he'll be going against WR Demaryius Thomas, who set a Broncos-record 226 receiving yards and added a pair of touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals.
TE Jace Amaro is on the verge of a major game. He's displayed some yards-after-catch ability in his first five games and looks like he's becoming a big part of the offense.
The offense certainly missed Eric Decker, who was held out Sunday's game against the Chargers with a hamstring injury. Before signing with the Jets, Decker spent the previous four seasons with the Denver Broncos, giving him some added motivation to play. He was limited in practice this week and is listed as questionable for the game.
David Harris left Sunday's game early with a shoulder injury he suffered in a friendly-fire collision with rookie Calvin Pryor. Harris was limited in practice on Friday and is questionable for the game. He's an important piece to the defense and lines up players before the snap.
Chris Ivory continues to run hard and despite rushing for 44 yards in San Diego, Ivory is No. 9 in the NFL with 318 rushing yards. Look for Ivory to get more involved in the offense this week as a strong running game is part of beating Peyton Manning.
Darrin Walls aggravated a knee injury on a long completion in Southern California and is listed as questionable. Walls stepped up when the team needed him to and brought with him consistent play at the corner position.
After suffering an ankle injury against Detroit, WR David Nelson gave it a go against the Chargers. He was limited in practice this week with the same ankle injury and is questionable for the game.
LB Quinton Coples has had a slow start to 2014, but is third on the team with five QB hits. Look for Q to make more of an impact this week.
