10 Players to Watch on Thursday Night
A week after facing Broncos CB Aqib Talib, WR Eric Decker will have another tough challenge ahead of him in former Jet Darrelle Revis. Decker said Revis has been one of the top corners in the game and will present a tough challenge: "I really have to make sure to use my technique and be physical because he's a guy that's very smart, very physical. He's going to make play. He's always aroud the ball. I'm looking forward to having a chance to play one of the best for sure."
QB Geno Smith played mistake-free football until the final 23 seconds against Denver when CB Aqib Talib picked him off and returned it for a touchdown. Smith's play in this one will be key if the Jets have plans of turning their season around.
With a knack for primetime games and past success against the Patriots, WR Jeremy Kerley figures to play an important role in this contest. In five games against the Pats, Kerley is averaging six receptions and 83 yards per game.
DE Muhammad Wilkerson will look to take advantage of a Patriots O-line that has two starters dealing with an injury. Mo has one career sack and it came in the Green & White's win at MetLife Stadium last year.
It will be a homecoming for Breno Giacomini, who grew up an hour away from Gillette Stadium. Giacomini grew up a Patriots fan and credits Drew Bledsoe for getting him interested in football. He will also have a tough challenge with Patriots DE Rob Ninkovich.
K Nick Folk was the hero against the Patriots last year when he nailed a 42-yard field goal in overtime. Folk hit three field goals during the course of the game.
Antonio Allen was responsible for covering TE Rob Gronkowski in last season's win against New England. He allowed Gronk to catch eight passes for 114 yards but kept him out of the end zone. He also intercepted Tom Brady and returned it for a touchdown.
Chris Ivory pounded the rock in last season's win over the Patriots. He carried the ball 34 times for 104 yards and played a large part in the near 23-minute time of possession advantage for the Green & White. After the lowest rushing total (31 yards) in the Rex Ryan era, look for Ivory to play a major role in this offense.
CB Phillip Adams has impressed since joining the team and is currently the only Jet with an interception. With the loss of Dee Milliner, Adams will need to step up for the defense in this one.
Damon "Snacks" Harrison recorded one sack last year. That was against the Patriots in the 30-27 win at MetLife Stadium. Snacks has said he wanted to get more sacks this season, but look for him to make an impact in the middle of the line.
