Mays attended North Dakota State before being selected in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mays was active for just two games as a rookie before playing 11 games for the Eagles in his second season.
In July before the 2010 season, Mays was traded to the Denver Broncos, where he played the next three seasons.
Mays played in 34 games with 21 starts for the Broncos -- including a 12-start season in 2011 in which he played in every game for the first time in his career.
Mays signed a one-year contract with the Texans prior to the 2013 season.
Mays made a career-high 13 starts in 2013 in his lone season for Houston.
Mays joined the Chiefs in March 2014, but an injury in KC's final preseason game held him out the first eight games of the season. He started three of the season's final eight games for Kansas City.
