Jets vs Colts: Keep Your Eyes On Them
As we head into the first preseason game, here are a few players to keep your eye on.

QB Geno Smith will start the game against the Indianapolis Colts and said he is excited to build on the team's performance at the Green & White practice and his own from the last quarter of the 2013 season. During that stretch he led the team to a 3-1 finish to improve its record to 8-8. Geno said he's bigger and stronger than last year at this time and added he's looking forward to proving it against the Colts.Â

Michael Vick will come into the game around the start of the second quarter, according to Rex Ryan, who named Vick the No. 2 quarterback when the first depth chart of summer was released earlier this week. Vick, making his debut with the Jets showed glimpses of his old self at the Green & White practice. The 34-year-old quarterback led the team with an unofficial total of 35 rushing yards, including a 20-yard run on 3rd and 17.Â

WR Eric Decker had a hot start to camp, but has since cooled off a little bit, but he will make his first appearance as a Jet against the Indianapolis Colts. Last season against the Colts, while he was a member of the Denver Broncos, Decker had eight receptions for 150 yards and one touchdown.Â

RB Chris Johnson will be making his Jets debut against the Indianapolis Colts and is said he is excited for the opportunity. He got his butterflies out during the Green & White practice when he was able to test his surgically repaired knee for the first time during live tackling. Those butterflies, he said, are gone.Â

LB Jason Babin is known for his pass-rushing prowess, and has shown that ability so far since signing with the Jets before training camp began. Babin, who has 62.5 career sacks, said he was excited for the chance to finally pop pads against another team: "Any time you get to go hit someone else and hit quarterbacks live, how can you not be excited?"

S Dawan Landry is affectionately nicknamed "The Mentor" by his teammates, especially the young guns in the secondary. Entering his ninth season, Landry has shown no signs of slowing down. Coincidentally, Landry's brother, LaRon, who played safety for the Jets during the 2012 season is on the Indianapolis Colts. LaRon's status for the game is uncertain, but it should be interesting how the brothers interact during pregame warmups and after the whistle.Â

WR Greg Salas made his case for a roster spot during the Green & White practice, posting an unofficial total of five catches for 54 yards. He also drew a pass interference call on CB Darrin Walls in the end zone, giving the offense the ball at the 1-yard line. Watch for his sure hands during Thursday's game against Indianapolis.Â

Daryl Richardson has shown flashes of brilliance during practice at SUNY Cortland, coming on strong while fellow RB Bilal Powell was nursing a hamstring. Richardson runs hard, and in a game where starters won't play for more than a quarter, according to Rex Ryan, watch for him to continue that trend into MetLife Stadium.Â
