The Jets have placed outside linebacker Josh Martin on injured reserve and promoted defensive lineman Bronson Kaufusi from the practice squad.
Martin made his regular season debut Sunday against the Jaguars after suffering a concussion in the third week of the preseason. The sixth-year veteran, who suffered a second concussion in Week 4, emerged as one of the team's top outside 'backers last season while leading the club with 12 tackles for loss and finishing second with 20 quarterback hits. Additionally, the 6'3", 245-pounder was one of the Green & White's top special teams performers as he paced the team in tackles in 2016 and finished third in 2017.
Kaufusi was selected in the third round of the 2016 draft by the Ravens and missed the entirety of his rookie season after breaking his ankle in training camp. Last season, the BYU product played in three games and recorded five tackles. The 6'6", 275-pounder finished No. 3 in BYU history with 44 tackles for loss and No. 5 all-time in sacks with 26.5.
The Jets filled out their practice squad by signing linebacker Harvey Langi. Langi, another BYU product, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and made their 53-man roster as an inside linebacker. The 6'2", 250-pounder played in one game before he was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list due to injuries he suffered in a car crash. The 26-year-old Langi was released in September.
