The Jets have released LG Kelechi Osemele and activated LB James Burgess from the practice squad. The Green & White also signed LB Ukeme Eligwe to the practice squad.
The Jets traded for Osemele in March and swapped their fifth-round selection for the Raiders' sixth-rounder in the 2019 draft. The eighth-year pro played in three games for the Green & White this season. Osemele has started all 96 games he's played in since entering the league in 2012.
Burgess was claimed by the Jets in May and totaled 13 tackles and a pick-six in the preseason before he was waived and re-signed to the practice squad in September. The third-year pro has played in 17 games (11 starts) and racked up 55 tackles, four sacks and three pass defenses in addition to a forced fumble. The Louisville product first signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and has had stints with the Chargers, Ravens, Jaguars and Browns, where he played under Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Last season under Williams, Burgess collected eight tackles in three games.
