The Jets have completed an interview with Mike Locksley for the Green & White's head coach position.
Locksley has been the head coach at University of Maryland the past six seasons, having compiled a 32-36 record from 2019-24. Prior to a 4-8 campaign last season, the Terrapins recorded three consecutive winning campaigns and captured bowl victories in the Pinstripe Bowl, Duke's Mayo Bowl and the Music City Bowl. The Terps finished 8-5 in 2022 and ''23, marking the first time they had won eight or more games in back-to-back seasons since 2002-03.
Locksley, Maryland's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2012-15, was named the Terrapins interim head coach for the final six games of the 2015 season.
Serving as Alabama's offensive coordinator in 2018, Locksley led a unit that averaged 45.6 points and 522 yards per game as the Tide set school records for points scored (684) and single-season total offense (7,830 yards). An offensive analyst for ''Bama in 2016, Locksley also was a co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach under Nick Saban in 2017.
After playing safety at Towson University, Locksley began his coaching career as a defensive backs/special teams coach at his alma matter in 1992 and spent the 1993-94 seasons at the Naval Academy Preparatory School. Locksley coached outside linebackers at Pacific (1995), wide receivers/tight ends at Army (1996) and running backs at Maryland (1997) before holding running backs/recruiting coordinator roles at Maryland (1998-02) and Florida (2003-04). After a stint at Illinois as offensive coordinator/tight ends coach (2005) and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach (2006-08), Locksley was the head coach at the University ofNew Mexico from 2009-11.
Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a head coach and general manager. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinate interviews.
